Nickelback Copyright Claim Takes Down Trump’s Biden Meme

Donald Trump had the attention of social media — as he usually does — after sharing a Nickelback meme meant to mock Democratic front-runner Joe Biden. Trump tweeted out the popular “Look at this photograph” meme featuring Nickelback’s hit song, while the band’s frontman Chad Kroeger was holding an edited photo that showed the former vice president, his son Hunter, and a “Ukranian oil executive”, who is Devon Archer, a colleague of Hunter Biden’s.

The song kicked on after a brief clip showing Biden saying he never discussed international dealings with his son.

After the Biden clip, the audio kicked in with the lyrics:

Look at this photograph / Every time I do it makes me laugh / How did our eyes get so red? / And what the hell is on Joey’s head?

The tweet had been liked more than 371,000 times and retweeted more than 114,000 times. However, because of a copyright claim, the media has been removed from his post. It is unclear whether Nickelback or Warner Media Group — which owns the rights to the band’s music — was who filed the claim.

While the media was removed from Trump’s Twitter account after the copyright claim, one user quickly grabbed the parody video and uploaded it to YouTube.

Trump has been actively smearing Joe Biden in the media over his family’s ties to Ukraine. The smear campaign against Biden came after Trump drew criticism for his call with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump, according to transcripts released by the White House, asked Zelensky to investigate Biden during a private phone call.

That led to a whistleblower revealing Trump’s phone call and the suggestion that the president was threatening to withhold $391 million of military aid. There were then reports of an alleged cover-up from the White House to keep the content of the call private.

From there, House Democrats opened an impeachment inquiry into the president and we have continued to see Trump attack Biden. And judging by the Nickelback meme, he won’t be stopping anytime soon.
