Senator Bernie Sanders has been hospitalized. The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate has been forced to take a break from the campaign trail during a crucial time in the primary race following a heart procedure that resulted in two stents successfully being inserted into an artery.

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days,” a statement said.

Sanders reportedly felt discomfort in his chest before going to the hospital for testing.

There, it was determined that the 78-year-old candidate had a blockage in one artery. The latest, however, indicates that Sanders is in “good spirits” and having conversations with those who are around him.

Following his hospitalization, his campaign announced that all campaign events have been canceled while he recovers.

“During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing, he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted,” Bernie Sanders’ Senior Advisor Jeff Weaver said in a statement.

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.”

We would like to wish Senator Sanders a full and speedy recovery.
