Shaquille O’Neal isn’t the best rapper, so it was no surprise when Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard said that he was a better rapper than Shaq during an interview on “The Joe Budden Podcast.” Lillard wasn’t too disrespectful about Shaq’s skills but did say that the NBA Hall of Famer was helped by his fame.
“I think I rap better than Shaq,” he said. “I think he was viewed as Shaq. People [weren’t] looking at him like he was a real rapper. They was like, ‘That’s Shaq rapping,’ so of course it was a big deal.”
It didn’t take long for Shaq to hear Lillard’s comments, however, and he immediately went to the studio to show that he still has some skills on the mic.
And surprisingly, it may be some of Shaq’s best work yet.
Shaq issued a response to Lillard with a four-minute diss track where he said Lillard will never measure up to the likes of NBA MVPs Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry, before firing a stray bullet in Trevor Ariza’s direction for some reason.
He started out: “You see this flow it got a little Hall of Fame on it / Dame shoot jumpers / Shaq still bang on it / MVP candidate you are not one / Platinum plaques on my wall go and get you some / Lyrically, I’m three-time Finals MVP / I can’t believe some clown is testing me.”
Then, the heat came.
“Take your time to respond / There is no hurry / You’ll never be Westbrook / Never be Steph Curry / What’s in your wallet / American Express or Visa? / Talking like you’re Bron / You ain’t even Trevor Ariza,” Shaq raps.
Poor Trevor Ariza. The man was just enjoying his time at home ahead of the upcoming NBA season when Shaq ruthlessly threw shad in his direction. Sometimes it just goes down that way, unfortunately.

The only question we have now is: Will Damian Lillard respond?
