Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine testified against the Nine Trey Bloods gang in order to minimize his jail sentence. What’s next for Tekashi remains to be seen, but there were previous reports that the Gummo rapper could be sent into witness protection for testifying against the violent gang.
Sure, that seems bizarre to believe a man as heavily tattooed as 6ix9ine could go back under the radar, but that was the discussion.
That doesn’t seem like it will fly for Tekashi 6ix9ine, however.
According to a report from TMZ, the rapper does not have any plans to enter a government witness protection program following his release from prison. Instead, Tekashi plans to hire a 24/7 security team while also continuing his rap career.
“As for how he’ll foot the bill for 24/7 bodyguards — we’re told Tekashi still has some cash left from before his arrest … plus, he’s planning on his music career taking off again, once he’s out.” It won’t be cheap. As we reported, Tekashi also has family members who fear for their lives — so expenses could add up fast if he’s protecting them too. We reached out to his attorney, Dawn Florio … but she had no comment.
It seems like a risk for 6ix9ine, whose family did not appear in court during his trial due to concerns about their own safety, but he’s never been one to take a conventional path.
Tekashi 6ix9ine pled guilty to nine charges after being arrested for federal RICO and firearms charges, including conspiracy to murder and armed robbery. He is due to be sentenced on January 24, 2020, and possibly faces a mandatory sentence of 47 years in prison. However, a plea deal shows that Tekashi could avoid jail time if he testifies against fellow gang members.
He recently wrapped up a three-day testimony against his former associates which included specifically naming members of the crew and their gang structure.
