Brian Rehg of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee, a traffic unit officer, is being hailed as a hero after a dramatic video showed Rehg saving a man’s life during a traffic stop back on April 8, 2019.
In the video, Rehg can be seen calling into his radio before using his quick reflexes to grab the leg of the man who was stopped just as he threw his body over the bridge. After his initial stop, KPD Lt. Chris McCarter assisted Rehg and helped pull the man to safety.
“Because of their vigilance and quick actions the young man is alive today. Both Lt. McCarter and Officer Rehg are true local heroes, not just because of this one incident but because they continue to risk their lives daily for the safety of others,” the Knox County Sheriff’s Officer wrote in a statement on Facebook.
“Thank you, gentlemen, for your continued hard work and dedication to Knoxville and Knox County.”
The man had been dangling head first over the side of the bridge before he was pulled back to safety and pinned to the ground alongside the road.

“We’re very proud of the life-saving actions of both officers and even more pleased that the young man received help during and after this incident,” the Knox Police Department said in a statement.
Kudos to officers Rehg and McCarter for their quick-thinking and fast actions that allowed them to save the man’s life.
