Andrew Sandy, a 23-year-old man from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has been arrested for taking revenge on an ex-girlfriend by leaking her nude photos and personal information after she broke up with him. Sandy sent the woman’s nude photos to her family and friends while sharing personal information with strangers.
According to The Farmington Daily Times, Sandy has been charged with a third-degree felony count of extortion and misdemeanor counts of stalking, voyeurism and unauthorized distribution of sensitive images.
Sandy was booked at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.
After initially threatening to release the photos if the woman did not respond to text messages and his messages on Facebook, he began sending them to her friends and relatives. Sandy allegedly sent the photos to nine different people. Among the photos were screenshots Sandy had taken from a video chat where he requested the woman take off her clothes.
He also shared her personal information online which ultimately led to the woman quitting her job over a fear of her safety.
“The defendant is accused of releasing the woman’s personal information to strangers which led to people traveling to the woman’s place of employment in Farmington trying to approach her for sex,” the report read.
“She later quit her job due to the stress and fear it caused, according to court documents.”
Sandy continued to negatively impact the woman’s life by accessing her Social Security number, vehicle identification number, and other medical information. He also reportedly told the woman he contacted the New Mexico Children, Youth and Family Department to say she was an unfit mother.
The woman says that she had dated Sandy for three months prior to their breakup after they had initially met online. The threats from Sandy began after the breakup.
A scheduled court appearance is not yet known.
