The University of Tennessee is in the headlines for all of the right reasons. After a student went viral for his custom-made UT t-shirt which had him bullied by classmates, the university has stepped in with an incredible gesture.
First, the university made the child’s custom design an official shirt and sent it his way, but now they are going one step further.
“Perhaps he’ll be a design major? The Florida boy who went viral for his DIY University of Tennessee T-shirt has been offered admission and a four-year ride to the university. The scholarship would cover the young man’s tuition and fees beginning fall 2028, a spokesperson for the school told TODAY Parents on Thursday,” according to a report from USA TODAY.
“I’m not even sure I can put into words his reaction. It was so heartwarming,” his mother wrote on Facebook after the inital t-shirt design went viral. “My student was so amazed at all the goodies in the box. He proudly put on the jersey and one of the many hats in the box. All who saw had either goosebumps or tears while we explained that he had inspired and touched the lives of so many people. When I told him that his design was being made into a real shirt and people wanted to wear it, his jaw dropped. He had a big smile on his face, walked taller, and I could tell his confidence grew today! Thank you to the UT Nation for that!”
Congratulations to the University of Tennessee for stepping up and making a difference in a child’s life.
