The Buccaneers vs. Panthers will officially kickoff Week 2 of the 2019-20 NFL regular season on Thursday Night Football on September 12. The NFC South rivals are both looking for their first wins of the year after kicking off the new season on the wrong foot.
Carolina enters the game as a 6.5-point favorite at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
For the Buccaneers to come away with the win, quarterback Jameis Winston will need to rebound from his three-interception performance in Week 1 — which included two interceptions returned for a touchdown — and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich believes the fifth-year pro is up for the job.
“That’s what this league’s all about. You can’t have any hangovers, no carry-overs, so he’s just got to stay locked in,” Leftwich said, via ESPN.com. “The good thing is we had to (begin preparation) the next day and get to rolling with this game being so quick.”
