The Akron football program is the latest team in the country to unveil their turnover prop for the new season. While some teams across the country have decided to go with some flashier props like the beloved Miami Hurricanes “Turnover Chain” and the “Turnover Pimp Cane” from Moorehead State, the Zips are keeping this simple and school related.
For Akron, the prop is simply an oversized pencil. And it is magnificent.
Check it out:
This has to be the best sideline prop we have seen so far this season.
Akron has had a rough start to its 2019 with a 42-3 season-opening loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini and UAB Blazers. Despite the slow start to the season, Akron will be looking to bounce back on Saturday, October 14 against the Central Michigan Chippewas.
The team will then finish off the month by playing host to Troy on Saturday, September 21 at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field before hitting the road to take on UMass on Saturday, September 28.
The Zips are currently in their first season under new head coach Tom Arth. We’ll have to see whether than can turn things around with the Turnover Pencil when the team opens play in the Mid-American Conference. Since 2006, the Zips have only put together one winning season and are currently coming off of a 4-8 2018 campaign in what spelled the end of Terry Bowden’s tenure with the team.
