Lindsay Agbalokwu, a teacher from Colorado, has quite an interesting story to tell. After mistaking labor pains for false contractions, the sixth-grade teacher at DSST: Conservatory Green in Denver, Colorado gave birth on the sidewalk outside of the school. Her due date was September 17, but the newborn baby had other plans.
The New York Post reported on the wild story.
Thanks to the help of the school principal and dean, Agbalokwu was able to successfully give birth.
“I lay down and we put the dispatcher on speaker phone, who started giving delivery instructions to Natalie and Chris,” she said about her co-workers who quickly lept into action.
Luckily one of the helpers had a sleeping bag in their car and was able to put the sleeping bag on the sidewalk while working to deliver the baby.
“In the classroom, the pain went from 0 to 100,” Agbalokwu told Yahoo Lifestyle. She later told the principal and dean “We should call 911, I think the baby is coming. I was in so much pain, I didn’t care that these people are my bosses, they are both parents. They were my support people.”
The baby was immediately transported to the local hospital after a fire truck arrived and the trained professionals were able to take over. The baby was a healthy girl named Zara. Agbalokwu who is just 17-months-old and enjoying his new baby sister along with Agbalokwu and her husband at home.
