Every few months Nintendo streams a Nintendo Direct for the company’s consumer audience to showcase what is planned or additional information about future releases. Announced earlier this morning (Tuesday, August 3rd) was the news that there will be a new Nintendo Direct tomorrow, August 4th. The coming Nintendo Direct will focus on games that will be arriving throughout the rest of 2019. As reported by online news source Polygon, Nintendo will be focusing on their two upcoming titles, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
The scheduled broadcast will be streamed on the game developer’s Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter channels at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET. Nintendo has stated that the show will last roughly forty minutes.
Beyond the two Nintendo Switch titles, that were mentioned above, future releases that are slated for 2019 include the character action-based third-person mech game Daemon X Machina, the remake of the highly praised Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Square Enix’s eleventh installment of the legacy Japanese role-playing game franchise Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age — Definitive Edition. While Nintendo has stated that this Direct will be solely focused on future 2019 titles, the company has been known to give viewers a sneak peek as to what is coming. Future 2020 releases include Animal Crossing: New Horizons (initially planned for 2019 but was delayed), and Metroid Prime 4 (though this title is rumored to be released in 2021 since the development of this title was restarted entirely).
Fans of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate are hoping for news about ‘Banjo & Kazooie,’ who is slated for a Fall 2019 release; however, this is unlikely to happen. Super Smash Brothers generally have it’s own Direct so all of the information is purely about Nintendo’s highest-selling franchise. If you cannot wait for any of these titles, don’t worry, Nintendo has been releasing amazing titles all year long. Titles that can be purchased right now are Grandia HD Collection, Astral Chain, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and many more.
We cannot wait to see what Nintendo has planned for tomorrow and will be keeping a close eye on all the information announced.
