Nick Diaz, a fan-favorite and former UFC title contender, has responded to former interim champion Colby Covington after Covington made previous comments about Diaz and his younger brother Nate. While Nate Diaz brushed off Covington’s comments, the older Diaz has responded.
In an interview that perfectly fits Diaz’s persona, he responded to news of the Covington comments by welcoming the challenge.
“I’m not gonna sit here and call the man a liar. I never heard about it, I just found out,” Diaz told TMZ Sports. “If you wanna fight, you know where to find me. I’m not a hard guy to find. Step in my motherf**king range right here. Come at me, bro.”
Nate, meanwhile, was much more dismissive of Covington.
“I don’t know who that is,” the younger Diaz said at a UFC 241 press conference. “If we got somebody good to fight, that’s who I want to fight. That’s what I’m saying. You’ve got to do something. If you’ve been here for two weeks and get a little hype show, I don’t give a shit.”
Nick, who won welterweight gold under the Strikeforce banner, has not fought since 2015 which was a no contest against former middleweight king Anderson Silva. Silva initially won the bout, but the result was overturned after Silva tested positive for the steroids drostanolone and androsterone. Diaz also tested positive for marijuana.
Nate recently returned to action and scored a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 241 in Anaheim, California. It was Nate Diaz’s first fight in three years.
Even when they aren’t active inside of the cage, the Diaz brothers always find a way to remain in the headlines.
