At Disney’s D23 event, over the weekend, had plenty of news from all corners of the titan company. However, some of the best announcements/showcases came from the Star Wars panel. During the Star Wars panel, Kathleen Kenedy, Lucasfilms C.E.O, spearheaded all of the announcements during the event. Not much information was given about the franchise’s future beyond what fans had already known; though, there was one major announcement at the end that made everyone lose their mind. Without further ado, here are the three big announcements from the Star Wars D23 panel.
Star Wars: Rise of the Sky Walker
To excite all of the fans, Disney just released the latest trailer for Star Wars: Rise of the Sky Walker. In the trailer, we get a nice flashback to all of the previous installments of the franchise and how the events of those movies led us to the ninth part of this epic saga. During that flashback, a voice tells us that we have learned all that we can (better yet ‘Rey’ has learned all that she can) and that the journey is coming to an end. Could this mean the end of the Jedi? With the “Rise” of another group? However, in the end, we are given the image of ‘Rey’ handling a double-sided, red lightsaber. Has she joined the Sith? Most likely not, guess’ lead us to believe that ‘Rey’ will fight a version of herself that represents the Sith just like ‘Luke’ had done before her. We won’t have to wait much longer to get the answers to these questions since Star Wars: Rise of the Sky Walker is scheduled to hit theaters this December.
StarWars: The Mandalorian
Set after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order comes the story of a lone gunfighter called “The Mandalorian”. Watch this bounty hunter’s story turn into legend, like ‘Jango’ and ‘Boba Fett’ before him, far outside the reaches of the New Republic authority. The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, known for playing ‘The Viper/ Prince Oberyn’ on Game of Thrones and fans can begin watching it when Disney+ releases November 12th.
Ewan McGregor Reveal
With Ewan McGregor walking out on stage at the Star Wars Panel, it was revealed that beloved ‘Obi-Wan’ will be getting his own Disney+ series as well. McGregor hasn’t been involved with the Star Wars franchise since the release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith back in 2005. Fans are hyped to see McGregor reprise his role as ‘Obi-Wan’.
