Anthony played eight years with the Nuggets and later got traded to the New York Knicks in the middle of the 2010-2011 NBA season. Anthony would spend six years in a Knicks uniform before again being traded but this time to the Oklahoma City Thunder to play with Russell Westbrook and Paul George. After playing one season with the Thunder, Anthony was traded to the Atlanta Hawks but did not play a single game with the Hawks as his contract was bought out.

Anthony would play ten games for the Rockets but would be traded again to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls waived Anthony making him a free agent. Carmelo Anthony has not played in the game NBA since being waived by the Bulls.
What Has Everyone Been Saying About It?
Carmelo Anthony had not played in an NBA game since November 8, 2018, when he took on his former team the Thunder. In that game, Anthony played 20 minutes and shot 1-11 from the field and only scored two points. Anthony sat down with sports analyst Stephen A. Smith on a segment on ESPN’S First Take and told his side of everything.
Rockets GM, Daryl Morey informed Anthony that he would no longer be playing for the team hours before their game against the Spurs. “I was getting ready for the game, and I was going to talk Daryl to discuss what I needed to do to help the team,” Anthony said, “And he told me my services were no longer needed and that I wasn’t suiting up tomorrow.” Anthony explained what he was thinking, “I can’t make a nine or ten-man rotation on this team, its deeper than basketball.” After that, Anthony thought that was it. “I don’t wanna do this anymore I dont wanna deal with the politics of playing a sport I loved.” Anthony had high emotions at the time, ” these are all feelings I had at the time I loved the sport more than the sport loved me.” Anthony has been seen working out with NBA players such as Trae Young, JR. Smith, Kyle Kuzma, and many more.
Anthony is a free agent still has been an ongoing topic in basketball. People are coming out and commenting on the issue. In a recent interview former NBA player, Royce White had some very impactful words but ultimately believes that Anthony should be on an NBA team. “All of us here that played the game at the highest level know how good Melo is and we know that there’s no way the Lakers would go out and sign Jared Dudley and not sign Carmelo Anthony.” In an article with ClutchSports, Dave Hopla, a former assistant coach for the Knicks, said “He should be playing, but you know he’s also got to accept a lesser role,” Unless he went to Charlotte, he could be the go-to guy. But he should still be in the league.”
Why Hasn’t Melo Been Signed?
In the last five to six years, the NBA has gone in a different direction from being a set offense and using the post to more a run and gun shooting type of the game. This due in part to the rise of Golden State and this made teams forget about playing the post and battling down low to now shooting jumpers from 30 feet. Carmelo Anthony, who has the fantastic scoring ability and can become a problem for the defense when he starts knocking down shots cannot seem to find a permanent home. The media has been saying that it is an ego problem while Anthony thinks it is more significant than basketball.
To everyone, Anthony does not fit the current mold of the NBA; he does not match the current playstyle of teams. Max Kellerman gave his comments about on a segment on First Take. “Melo because he was a superstar, isn’t used to the world treating him differently,” Kellerman explained how Anthony does not fit in. “If I am running and I am looking at the guy is not a good catch and shoot three-point shooter and hasn’t been which is surprising because Melo can shoot well and not a good defender. ” Kellerman thinks that he could still play for a team like the Spurs. ” They have a good track record on taking old skilfull players and putting them in the position to make contributions to winning efforts, but that takes an ego-less effort.”
Anthony wants to continue playing and will continue his efforts to do so the 35-year-old said he has reached out to NBA teams such as the Lakers and Clippers.
