Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown continues to be the talk of the town. Following a recent practice session this weekend, Raiders general manager Mike Mayock discussed the ongoing helmet drama and shared his thoughts on what the pass-catcher should do next.
According to Mayock, the team is ready for Brown to either be “all in or all out” with his focus on football.
“AB is not here today,” Mayock said. “Here’s the bottom line: He’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that, we appreciate that. But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief. So from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all in or all out. We’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going, and we’re hoping AB is going to be a big part of it, starting Week 1 against Denver. End of story, no questions.”
Raiders head coach Jon Gruden previously voiced his support for the receiver.
“I support this guy. I think that’s what needs to be said,” Gruden told the media. “I don’t know what anybody’s writing or what anybody thinks, but this foot injury wasn’t his fault. This was a total accident. It really wasn’t his fault, and it’s a serious injury. I know that some people are [joking about] it, but it’s really not a laughing matter. The guy is hurt, he didn’t do anything wrong, and the helmet thing is a personal matter to him.”
Oakland opens up its 2019-20 campaign on September 9 in a Monday Night Football matchup against the division rival Denver Broncos.
