Sasha Banks, born Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado, is a fan favorite professional wrestler who is signed to WWE under the Raw brand. Sasha Banks took a brief hiatus following WrestleMania 35 before returning on Monday Night RAW the day following SummerSlam 2019.
The 27-year-old wrestler was involved in the first women’s match to ever headline a major WWE event (NXT TakeOver: Respect), part of the first women’s Iron Man match which was the longest women’s match in WWE history at the time at 30 minutes, and the first-ever woman to headline a pay-per-view in her match against Charlotte Flair. She was also involved in the first women’s Hell in a Cell match.
In addition to her in-ring achievements and resume, Banks was the first woman to win the Pro Wrestling Illustrated award for Feud of the Year.
Outside of the ring, Sasha, whose real name is Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado, is married to Sarath Ton, a former professional wrestler, and WWE costume designer. She is the cousin of hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg, Brandy Norwood, and Ray J. Kaestner-Varnado was born in Fairfield, California on January 26, 1992, and began her pro wrestling career in Boston.
