Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jordan Lasley has had quite the interesting week at the team’s training camp at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Maryland. Lasley caught the attention of the team’s beat writers on multiple occasions, but it was not because of the headlines you want to be making.
According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Lasley’s eventful week started when he was involved in the first fight of Ravens camp. Lasley took exception to a high hit from cornerback Cyrus Jones which led to the two players exchanging blows. Lasley also swung at safety Bennett Jackson, who was attempting to break up the fight, before being tackled to the ground.
Lasley quickly made up for his on-field scuffle by catching a touchdown pass on the very next play.
However, Lasley was still amped up and had his adrenaline pumping from the fight with his teammates which led to a bizarre celebration. For one reason or another, Lasley decided to launch the football into a nearby pond.
As you might expect, the Ravens staff was not very pleased.
And yes, there was a photo of the football sadly floating in the water.
Just a few days after his questionable antics, Lasley learned the hard way that you need to compose yourself on the field because he was no longer a member of the team after Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced that he has been released.
Harbaugh, however, said that the decision to release Lasley had nothing to do with his training camp fight or launching the ball.
“We never cut anyone for fighting,” Harbaugh said about his decision to cut the 2018 fifth-round pick, via ESPN.com. “It’s over a year now. From a fit perspective, in terms of what we’re trying to do with our offense, other guys are going to be a better fit.”
The Ravens take the field in their first preseason game on Thursday, August 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
