When the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada for UFC on ESPN+ 16 on Saturday, September 16, fans are in for a treat. The promotion announced the headliner which features top lightweights Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje.
The two 155-pound contenders are among the most exciting and fan-friendly fighters in the division, so the fight promises to bring non-stop action to the fans.
“Get ready, Vancouver!” UFC president Dana White said. “This fight is going to be ridiculous!”
Cerrone recently faced off against Tony Ferguson on June 8 at UFC 238 when he suffered a doctor’s stoppage loss to Tony Ferguson. Prior to the loss, Cerrone had secured three straight wins over Mike Perry, Alexander Hernandez, and Al Iaquinta.
Gaethje, meanwhile, is coming off of back-to-back knockout wins over Edson Barboza and James Vick. The knockout streak ended a two-fight skid after starting off his career with a perfect 18-0 record. Since joining the UFC, Gaethje has earned $50,000 bonuses for Performance or Fight of the Night in each of his bouts.
