Season 3 of the Netflix hit series Stranger Things dropped on Thursday, July 4. While it has been less than one week since the Fourth of July launch, the new season is already breaking records. The streaming service giant announced that Stranger Things season 3 has broken its four-day streaming record.
Netflix shared the news on social media and the numbers are quite eye-popping.
According to Netflix, 40.7 million accounts have reportedly watched at least one episode of the season, while a whopping 18.2 million have already binge-watched every episode.
“Stranger Things season 3 is breaking Netflix records! 40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days,” the company wrote on Twitter. “And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.”
I think that is what you would call a major win for Netflix.
And the success of the show should continue to excite fans because a fourth season for the series has already been confirmed. The only question is whether everyone will be treated to a fifth and final season. Regardless, star actress Millie Bobby Brown says she knows how everything will end.
In an interview with Digital Spy (as part of her Godzilla: King of Monsters promotional tour), Brown revealed that the Duffer Brothers have told her how the already-iconic series will come to a conclusion.
“I know exactly what happens,” Brown said. “Very scared.”
Bobby Brown is not the only Stranger Things star who knows how it all comes to an end for the kids of Hawkins, Indiana, as David Harbour — who portrays Chief Jim Hopper on the series — also told Digital Spy that he’s been clued in on the ending as well.
“I know the end of the story, and I think it’s beautiful,” Harbour said. “I don’t think four [seasons] is enough. I think five is maybe enough – if you want my opinion, I would like five.”
If you have yet to check out the latest season of Stranger Things, you can do so right now by heading over to Netflix.
