In a matter of hours, the landscape of the NBA has completely changed. Major moves on Friday night led to a major shakeup in the 2020 NBA Championship odds with the Los Angeles Clippers soaring from 16-1 to 3-1 thanks to the major acquisitions of NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George.
Leonard announced that he is signing a four-year, $142 million contract with the Clippers, while Los Angeles unloaded a plethora of draft picks to land George.
While the Clippers land George, Oklahoma City will receive Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick and two pick swaps in return.
The Clippers’ ability to land the star duo upstages the Lakers’ move to land big man Anthony Davis during the offseason and the Brooklyn Nets’ coup of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as they emerge as the team to beat in the league.
Other favorites are the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. The Raptors and Clippers, meanwhile, saw their odds plummet after losing out on their top players.
