Crips LLC, an organization formed on behalf of the Crips street gang, has issued an apology to the family of late-rapper Nipsey Hussle and his girlfriend Lauren London. The Crips had previously filed a trademark request for “The Marathon Continues” which they claimed would be used to promote gang intervention programs and community activism, according to The Blast.

The request came before a trademark application was filed by Nipsey’s brother Blacc Sam which could have set up a trademark battle.

However, the Crips say they will not move forward with the request.

“There will absolutely be no trademark legal battle between their organization and Blacc Sam, brother of the late Nipsey Hussle,” the organization said, via the report. “[The Crips] respectively vows to support the wishes of Lauren London and the Asghedom family… We realize that our actions may have been offensive and we have reached out to his family, respectively Nip’s sister, Samantha Smith.”

Crips LLC corporate communications director William King Hollis added, “We are deeply sorry for any disruptions and melee that the trademark acquisition may have caused to his family, friends, and fans.”

With Nipsey’s family already going through enough grief from his murder, it is good to see both sides coming to a resolution before a legal battle ensued.

Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed on Sunday, March 31 outside of his clothing store — Marathon Clothing — in Los Angeles, California. The rapper was 33 years old. Hussle was recently nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards for his debut studio album “Victory Lap.” Initially, reports claimed that the murder in broad daylight was a result of gang violence, but it was later revealed that it stemmed from a personal issue between Nipsey and the shooter, Eric Holder, who was arrested and charged with murder.
