Kosovare Asllani, whose nickname is Kosse, is one of the top stars on the Sweden national team that is representing the country in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Entering the quarterfinals for Sweden, Kosovare leads the team with 13 shots and four on target. She has netted two goals and two assists throughout the group stage while leading the Blue and Yellow’s counterattack.
Kosse plays at the club level for Damallsvenskan club Linköpings FC, after previous stints with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Kristianstads DFF, Linkopings FC, and Chicago Red Stars.
The 29-year-old was born on July 29, 1989, and is of Kosovar-Albanian descent. Along with soccer, Asllani grew up playing ice hockey before focusing solely on the pitch.
Because of her Balkan heritage, Kosse has drawn comparisons to fellow Swedish soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović, who was previously the captain of the men’s national team and currently plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS.
