Jermall Charlo returns to action on Saturday, June 29 to make the first defense of his WBC middleweight championship against Brandon Adams live on Showtime Boxing. Charlo enters the fight towering over his 5-foot-9 opponent and as the clear-cut favorite.
Prior to the fight, Charlo was the interim WBC champion and would have been a mandatory challenger for Canelo Alvarez. However, the promotion created a new title for Canelo — the WBC Franchise 160-pound Champion — and promoted Charlo to the undisputed WBC middleweight titleholder.
Now, he’s ready to defend his belt and entertain the crowd at NRG Arena in Houston, Texas.
“I’m proud of the people of Houston for coming out and supporting me. I expect this to be a show. I’m going to give it my all. I’m going in there to defend my life,” said Charlo following the weigh-ins.
