Justin Bieber vs. Tom Cruise in mixed martial arts started off as a joke when the pop star tweeted out a message to the action movie star saying that he wanted to fight him inside of the UFC’s Octagon. Bieber even admitted that he was just joking around with his comment, but UFC president Dana White continues to paint a different picture.
TMZ Sports recently reported that William Morris Endeavours co-CEO Ari Emanuel was on a call with Dana White and Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun to discuss making the fight a reality.
Now, Dana White is confirming those reports and saying that he has been engaged in talks to promote the fight, according to MMAjunkie.com.
White discussed the possibility while speaking as a guest speaker at Hashtag Sports 2019.
“I should have known this was going to be the first question,” White said. “Listen, if I can make that fight, I’d be all over that fight. It’d be the biggest pay-per-view in the history of pay-per-view.
“It is true. As crazy as that sounds, that is true. … I don’t want to use any names, but I was at home on a Sunday, and I got a call with two big guys on the phone. They were telling me this could possibly happen and this could be real. I’m like, there’s no way that this is really going to happen. But if it does, call me back. I’m in.”
The more White discussed the possibility of the fight, the more excited he became.
“Oh my god, it would be massive,” White added. “It would be massive. Everybody laughed when we talked about this, so you’ve heard of it. Who wouldn’t watch that? Everybody would watch it. It’s a complete train wreck, and I love it, and I’m in. I’m in. …
“I can’t even believe this is what we’re talking about right now.”
As much of a circus as the fight would be, we can’t lie… that pay-per-view would be ordered immediately.
