Duane “Dog” Chapman lost his wife of 13 years, Beth, on Wednesday, June 26. Beth was in a medically induced coma after having difficulty breathing, and she ultimately passed away days later. Since her passing, there has been overwhelming support from fans of the couple — who starred on the hit show Dog the Bounty Hunter — but Dog had remained relatively silent.

Now, he is opening up about the tragedy and his heartbreaking loss.

“I hope to god there is a God. I trained myself [to think] “What would Jesus do?” and I hope I’m not just talking to myself. I hope there is a God and if there is, I’m gonna see my honey again. That’s all we can do is hope,” Dog told Hawaii News Now.

While Dog was thankful for the outpouring of support, he did ask people not to send money to any online fundraisers.

“She’s trending on Twitter number one. We have got millions, from all over the world, people wishing love and showing respect,” Dog added.

“We do have one problem, okay. Please stand by for a public service announcement. So, we’ve got people — and it’s mostly from the mainland — that are setting up funds to donate [here] to Beth and all that. Right now, so far, we don’t need any money at all. Please, save your money and send flowers.”

Beth had been diagnosed with stage II throat cancer in 2017 but was cancer-free by the end of that year. In November 2018, it was announced that Beth’s cancer returned and she underwent aggressive chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the battle with cancer got to be too much and on Mother’s Day in 2019 she stopped undergoing chemo treatments.

Our deepest condolences are with Beth’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.
