The first Democratic Debate of the 2020 election cycle took place on Wednesday, June 26 with Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, former Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Washington Governor Jay Inslee, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro, Ohio Representative Tim Ryan, and former Maryland Representative John Delaney fielding questions about the most important issues to voters.

There were some standout moments with Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro, and Bill de Blasio shining bright, but a poll that was conducted following the debate shows another candidate listed as an overwhelming winner.

In a poll from Drudge Report, Tulsi Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran and the first Samoan-American and first Hindu member of the United States Congress, brought in nearly 40 percent of the vote.

Gabbard was also the most searched candidate in the country, according to the unofficial statistics.

Warren came in second with 11.2 percent of the vote, while former Maryland Representative John Delaney was in third at 8.6 percent and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio picked up 7 percent for fourth.

The least popular candidates were former Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker with less than 4 percent of the vote.

On Night 2, the candidates discussing the issues will be former Vice President Joe Biden, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, California Senator Kamala Harris, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, California Representative Eric Swalwell, spiritual author Marianne Williamson, and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Moderators for the debates will be NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, MSNBC primetime host Rachel Maddow, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd, Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, and Noticias Telemundo anchor José Diaz-Balart.
