Here we go again. Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame originally released on April 26, 2019 and was a complete success. Good thing that it was because the movie that ended one M.C.U saga had a hefty hype-train rolling behind it. The action-packed super-hero movie grossed over $8.34 million in the domestic box office and a whopping $2.74 billion in the worldwide box office, according to the-numbers.com. Even with those insane numbers, Avengers: Endgame only came in as the second-ranked highest grossing film in cinema history. Being beaten out by James Cameron’s 2009 science-fiction blockbuster Avatar. However, in a report from complex.com, Avengers: Endgame is scheduled for a re-release coming soon to a theater near you, with some added goodies thrown into the mix.
What is being added?
Entertainment Weekly says that the added content that will be featured in this re-release includes: an introduction by co-director Anthony Russo, a deleted scene pertaining to everybody favorite green mass of muscle, the Hulk–reported to play as an ending credits scene–and lastly a special tribute to the late and great Stan Lee. The father of many of these Marvel characters.
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has told ScreenRant similar information as to what the viewer will see “If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises.” Let’s not forget that on July 2, 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home will also be premiering in theaters and that there will be a sneak peek for the upcoming film in the Avengers: Endgame re-release. So, if you are excited for ‘Spider-Man’ this re-release might want to be on your list.
Does this re-release benefit fans?
Surely hardcore M.C.U fans will be overjoyed for this upcoming re-release of Avengers: Endgame. However, with this re-release, Marvel owner Disney, is clearly trying to become the number one for the highest grossing film in cinema history. With only $40 million sitting between Endgame and Cameron’s Avatar it’s likely that Disney will be able to pull this event off. With pre-release ticket sales going on for the re-release that number is steadily growing smaller and smaller with each passing hour, says reports from comicbook.com. While this release will be fun for fans to go and relive this wonderful film and view some never-before-seen footage, it is clear that this re-release is strictly for, healthy, business competition.
With a home video and V.O.D release slated for this summer and Avengers: Endgame premiering on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney +, at the end of 2019, it seems that M.C.U fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch this film before that happens. Tickets for this re-release can be found on Fandango.
