Popular DMV Rapper Fame Reek Tragically Dies at 22

Fame Reek, a popular rapper from the DMV, has tragically passed away at age 22. According to reports, the rapper from the District of Maryland and Virginia area died on June 24, 2019. Fame Reek is considered a pioneer of rap in the DMV scene.

Fame Reek’s manager, Solo DC, issued a brief statement on social media to confirm the rapper’s death.

“Y’all don’t understand the pain I’m feeling right now. Fame Reek was like a son to me,” he wrote on Twitter. “It’s was deeper than the music he was family. He was a good dude man, he was solid, he showed nothing but love to everybody even to those who hated him.”

He added: “I’m sorry bro. I should’ve been there.”

Fame Reek is best known for his songs “Savage”, “No Stallin” and “Hold Me Down.” Fame Reek’s latest drop was the mixtape NOstallin’ PT3 which was released in September 2018. His manager added that he will be releasing Reek’s final mixtape “soon.”

Fame Reek Cause of Death: Suspected Drug Overdose

Fame Reek passed away on Monday, June 24. While an official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, Soundcloud rapper Ayo Potter said that the rapper dried from a drug overdose.

“Damn my friend fame reek is dead from drug overdose this saddens my heart I told him stop doing that sh*t,” Potter wrote. A friend of Reek’s named Lil Poodha also commented about drugs in a Facebook post writing, “Drugs are not to be played [with]. I wish y’all understand that.”
