Bonette Kymbrelle Meeks Identified as Suspect Who Shot & Killed Missouri Police Officer

Bonette Kymbrelle Meeks has been identified as the suspect who shot and killed Michael Langsdorf, a police officer with the North County Police Cooperative. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 23 when he was responding to a local business following a report of a man attempting to cash bad checks.

The 26-year-old Meeks admitted to shooting Langsdorf and was charged with first-degree murder, according to KMOX news director Beth Coghlan.

According to authorities, Meeks fired a shot that went through Langsdorf’s neck, through his spinal cord and out of his chest.

A statement from the police revealed further details:

NCPC Police Officer Michael Langsdorf, DSN 347, was shot and killed in the line of duty today at 6250 Page Avenue in the city of Wellston. PO Langsdorf was dispatched there for a person trying to cash a bad check. After arriving, PO Langsdorf was shot by the person attempting to cash the bad check. The person who shot and killed PO Langsdorf is in custody. A firearm was recovered.

Video of Langsford’s slaying was streamed on Facebook Live. Law enforcement officials have been critical of those who filmed and shared Langsdorf’s death, including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch which shared the video in a story.

Langsdorf was 40-years-old and is survived by two children and a fiance.

“PO Langsdorf leaves behind two children, a fiancé, parents and an enormous amount of friends and family,” police wrote in their statement.
