Sasha Luss is a Russian supermodel who has begun breaking out in the acting world. She began action as Princess Liho-Minaa in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets but is now set to star as Anna Poliatova in Anna.
She was previously featured in the Balmain Fall/Winter 2016 campaign of Olivier Rousteing alongside Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Francisco Lachowski, Joan Smalls, Jon Kortajarena, Jourdan Dunn and Alessandra Ambrosio.
She has modeled for brands like Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Lanvin, Dior Beauty, Balmain, Oscar de la Renta, Max Mara, Tommy Hilfiger, LA Perla, Karl Lagerfeld, Moschino, Carolina Herrera and Moncler.
Sasha was born in Magadan, Magadan Oblast and eventually relocated to Moscow, Russia. She was a writer and dancer before her turn to modeling. Sasha suffered an ankle injury that derailed her dancing career and ultimately took her to the modeling world at the age of 13 despite opposition from some family members who viewed the career as immoral.
“I had an accident when I was a teenager and I had to stop at that point». Inspiration and depth,” She said in an interview with Lampoon.
“It’s not only about ballet. It’s everything you do. All of your knowledge you have from school too. Of course dancing is not only about movement itself». It’s about discipline: «I used to travel a lot as a kid with a competitive [dance] team and this helped as well because you are flying everywhere and modeling is the same. But, I think the main thing is that I look at photographs sometimes and I see empty eyes and I think that is the scariest thing, but if you have a lot of experience and knowledge you will never have this problem.”
