Edith Gonzalez Cause of Death: Ovarian Cancer
Gonzalez passed away at age 54 on Thursday, June 13. The news was confirmed by Mexican journalist Mara Patricia Castañeda before friends and fans began sharing tributes on social media.
Gonzalez was initially diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in 2016. It was a “very aggressive” cancer which led to Gonzalez undergoing surgery to have her ovaries, uterus, and lymph nodes removed.
Rumors of her declining health began to swirl in April 2019, but she adamantly denied them. The rumors began during her absence from the show “Dancing for a Dream,” where she was serving as a judge.
In her final tweet on May 29, Gonzalez shared a tweet that was a celebration of life.
“Today we are given a new opportunity to love, I know it sounds mega-corny, but it’s net,” she said. “Love every second, enjoy the gift of life! Even the simplest movement our body makes is a symbol of freedom and love.”
Our deepest condolences go out to Gonzalez’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.
