Like how the most prominent movies are released in the Summer, The fall season is where some of the biggest games come into the fold. While there are plenty of mid-tier games coming in this summer, it’s the fall release that will be getting the attention of everyone. With dozen’s of games coming out, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to spend your $60 on. So, we’ve compiled this list to not only tell you what games were most excited to play in the Fall season but also as a guide for games that are worth your time and money. The only rule to be considered on this list is that the game must be confirmed to be released in the fall. With that said, let’s get started.

10. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening might not be the next big Zelda game fans were expecting, but it will tide them over till whenever that Breath of the Wild sequel comes out. Link’s Awakening will offer the same great Zelda top-down action-puzzle gameplay that made the Gameboy original one of the best installments in the franchise. Now, with a fresh coat of paint, this latest installment will introduce a new generation of fans to this popular game. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening drifts to shores on September 20th, 2019.

9. MediEvil

The original MediEvil was released back in the ’90s for the original PlayStation. It was a quirky action game that had you playing as the skeleton warrior Sir Daniel Fortesque as he attempts to save the world from the evil sorcerer, Zarok. The game promises to be a faithful remake, keeping everything that made the original a PS1 classic, with fancy HD Visuals. It won’t even cost you that much, as MediEvil on PS4 will only be about $30 when it releases on October 25th, 2019.

8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The original Modern Warfare series ushered in a new era of online multiplayer shooters. With its tight map design, addictive gameplay and the introduction of perks, the Modern Warfare series became the standard for online gaming. For years, companies had attempted to emulate the success of Modern Warfare, but none could. Now, after multiple iterations of the Call of Duty series failing to live up to the standards of past installments, the next Call of Duty game will be re-introducing us to the Modern Warfare series. With the promise of featuring more tactical-based gameplay and a campaign that will re-introduce characters like Captain Price and feature a story that will have”heavy on troubling, realistic emotional moments,” we can’t wait to get our hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when it releases on September 13th.

7. Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Breakingpoint

Ghost Recon is back with the latest installment tasking The Ghosts to bring in one of their own. When former Ghost Member, Cole D. Walker, (Voiced by The Punishers’ Jon Bernthal)  goes rogue, the Ghosts will infiltrate the island of Auroa to stop him and bring him home.  Breakingpoint won’t be a total departure of what made the previous game in the series one of 2017’s best selling games, but it will have a new class system, improved A.I and more options for tactical play. Get ready to take on The Punisher and his army, as Ghost Recon Breakpoint is sent off to duty on October 3rd.

6. Borderlands 3

With its colorful graphics and even more colorful cast of characters, Borderlands gained a large following when it first released in 2009. After taking a hiatus to work on a few other projects, Gearbox Software has returned with the same Looter-Shooter action that made Borderlands one of gamings most popular series. From what we’ve seen, Borderlands 3 isn’t really doing that much new, but it will be refining everything that made the series so successful; going around and shooting the hell out of everything that moves with some of the most diverse weapons and abilities in all of gaming. Get ready for Borderlands’ grand return when this third installment comes out on September 13th, 2019.

5. Gears 5

Like the Force Awakens, the last Gears of War game played it safe to re-introduce the world the series back to the general public. Now, after 3 years of waiting, the story of Gears will continue where the last game left off. Promising new gameplay elements and a story that will reveal more about the Locus, Gears 5 looks to be another stellar installment in one of Microsoft’s flagship series. We only wish that we got to see more gameplay footage that wasn’t of the games new Multiplayer Mode, Escape, and learned more of the story of the latest installment. Gears 5 will release on September 10th.

4. Pokemon: Sword and Shield

Pokemon still holds a place in the hearts of millions everywhere. From the dozen’s of games that have been released since 1996, to the TV show that still goes on to this day, to the recent feature film that earned over $400 million at the box office, Pokemon is still one of the biggest media franchise for the past 20 years. The latest installment promises to do everything that a new Pokemon game does best; Feature a few new mechanics and introduce a new batch of Pokemon for people to catch, train, trade, and battle with. Along with being the first mainline Pokemon game on a home console, the new game will bring online raids and have your Pokemon turn into giants. We can’t wait to play this latest installment anywhere when it launches on the Nintendo Switch on November 15th.

3. Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima is one of the few auteurs in gaming. From his games being based on real-world politics to his mixture of melodrama with Japanese style comedy, you can tell what his games are his and his alone. He has become the gaming version of Quentin Tarantino. After his public falling out with publisher Konami, Kojima started up his own game company and teamed up with Sony to bring a brand new game. Death Stranding promises the same storytelling and gameplay design that made his previous work, Metal Gear, one of the most iconic game series of all time. Combining elements of stealth, open world, and survival gameplay, and staring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen, We can’t wait to see what Kojima has in store for us. Death Stranding will be out on November 8th.

2. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

What maybe publish EA’s last chance at redeeming their Star Wars games, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will not focus on a multiplayer mode that will be made so they will nickel and dime the consumer. instead, it will be a single-player focus action game set after the events of Order 66, the day when the Jedi were wiped out, and the Empire was born. You’ll be playing as one of the last few surviving Jedi, Cal Kestis (played by Gotham’s Cameron Monaghan). What we saw of Fallen Order looks like a much more accessible version of Dark Souls, with some Prince of Persia like platforming sequences. You’ll be able to control the force like no other and gain access to several different abilities. If EA and developer Respawn Entertainment (creators of Titanfall and Apex Legends) does right, it’ll give hope for new Star Wars games. Brush up on your lightsaber skills as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on November 15th.

1. The Outer Worlds

From the creators of Fallout: New Vegas comes The Outer Worlds. This Sci-Fi FPS RPG will let you live out your sci-fi fantasy by allowing you to tailor your character the way you want them to be, whether they be good or bad. Along with vastly improved shooting from New Vegas, The Outer Worlds promises to feature expansive worlds for you to visit, numerous quests for you to complete and dozens of different abilities for you to toy around with. Top that with the same dark humor and great writing that made Fallout New Vegas one of the best installment of the series and The Outer Worlds easily makes it to the top of the list as the most anticipated game of 2019. The Outer Worlds will release on October 25th of this year.
