Latin pop star Gabriel Diniz was planning to attend his girlfriend’s birthday party when tragedy struck. On Monday, May 27, the 28-year-old lost his life after being involved in a plane crash on his way to his girlfriend’s party. The others to die in the crash were pilots Linaldo Xavier and Abraão Farias, according to PEOPLE.
Following the news of his death, an outpouring of tributes came on social media.
One of those to pay tribute to the singer was Larissa Pereira, the wife of soccer star Roberto Firmino, who was a close friend of Diniz.
“I really do not know what to tell you, I wanted to be here just wishing you happy birthday, but I also say that I’m praying a lot for you,” Pereira wrote to Diniz’s girlfriend, Karoline Calheiros. “Asking God to comfort your heart and understanding you to understand that his plans are sometimes not ours, but what matters is that one day we will all find ourselves in a much better place.”
