UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero scored a huge win this week, but it came outside of the cage. Romero Romero appeared in New Jersey court and won a lawsuit against Gold Star Performance Products. The lawsuit stemmed from a failed drug test which led to a suspension from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

As it turns out, Romero’s failed drug test was the result of a tainted supplement.

When it was all said and done, Romero was awarded total damages of a whopping $27.45 million.

Romero’s agent, Abraham Kawa, shared the news on social media.

Kawa wrote:

He looked me in the eyes and said “Ibra! I don’t do nothing!” I told him I’d fight with him all the way through. Today we won and we won big, sure $27.45mil is a lot of money and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. That was not what we expected going into this thing but as I told @yoelromeromma after, God is always good and always on time! So we stopped and he got himself a watch before we headed back home #frm

Romero last competed at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018. The Olympic wrestler suffered a split decision loss to UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a bout that earned Fight of the Night and Fight of the Year honors.

Next up for Romero is a key middleweight contender bout against Paulo Costa at UFC 242 on August 17. The event — which will air on pay-per-view — will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
