Natalie Portman, born Natalie Hershlag on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, is an American Academy Award-winning actress who is perhaps best known for portraying Padmé Amidala in the second Star Wars trilogy.
Born in Jerusalem, Portman was eventually raised in Long Island, New York. When she was just a teenager, she was cast as Padmé Amidala, a role she would go on to play in three Star Wars films: Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Her appearances in the Star Wars films instantly made her an internationally known star, as she went on to appear in various films such as Garden State, V for Vendetta, The Darjeeling Limited, The Other Boleyn Girl, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, New York, I Love You, and The Other Woman.
In the year 2010, Portman portrayed Nina Sayers in the Darren Aronofsky film Black Swan, a role that earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Following her Academy Award-winning turn in Black Swan, Portman would go on to star in various feature films such as No Strings Attached, Your Highness, Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Knight of Cups, Jane Got a Gun, Jackie, Annihilation, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, and Avengers: Endgame.
Not even 40-years-old yet, Portman is now one of the most sought after and respected actresses in the entertainment business. In the coming years, she will star in films such as Lucy in the Sky and Dolphin Reef.
