Aran Katarina Kirschenmann, a 22-year-old American bombshell who is dating Bergur Rasmussen, is being forced to return to the United States. Rasmussen is the son of Danish prime minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and the country’s “child bride law” is what is forcing Kirschenmann to return home.
According to the law, marriages to migrant spouses under the age of 24 are restricted.

The prime minister said he stands behind the rule and tougher immigration generally. But he also criticized the lack of flexibility in the current immigration laws, particularly as Danish businesses face a labor shortage and are desperate for highly educated immigrants. “It’s to wonder at, that we live in a country that has no place for her,” Rasmussen said. In response, Mette Frederiksen, head of the opposition Social Democrats, said the rule carries “a price” and rejected efforts to soften it.
Kirschenmann has until the end of the month to leave the country.
Rasmussen’s father is supported by the Danish People’s Party which has been working to force stricter immigration laws. However, he could be set to work with the Social Democrats following an upcoming election on June 5, according to the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old was in Denmark as part of a study abroad program with the University of Copenhagen. She is currently studying at Harvard while pursuing a dual major in Economics and Psychology. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and Junior Statesmen of America.
Kerschman currently works as Group Affairs & Communications Coordinator for Rud Pedersen Public Affairs in Copenhagen and previously worked as a Social Media Consultant for the Danish non-profit foundation LøkkeFonden. Because of her pending deportation, there is no word on whether she will be able to keep her job with the company.
Bergur, meanwhile, also attended Harvard and began dating Kerschmann in 2015. While his father is the prime minister of the country, Berger is also getting involved in politics as he runs for a seat in the European Parliament.
