While the track’s origins are unclear at this time, the intro includes a quote from David Schwimmer’s character — Robert Kardashian — in the 2016 FX series The People V. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.

“He’s never going to stop being The Juice,” Schwimmer can be heard saying as the piano-heavy intro begins.

The sample used in the track is the same melodic beat that was used in Lil Wayne and Drake’s 2010 single “With You”, which appeared on Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being mixtape.

The track is filled with traditionally beautiful Mac Miller lyrics such as:

They told me, “Don’t make a promise you can’t keep” / All the drugs in your system, you can’t sleep / How many times you had to buy a Plan B / For a girl you never bring back home to meet your family,” he sings.

Listen to the full version of Mac Miller’s “Benji the Dog” below:

Miller, just 26-years-old at the time of his death, tragically passed away in September 2018 due to a drug overdose. Following his death, his most recent and ultimately final album Swimming was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

During the course of his short yet decorated career, Miller was known for constantly being in the studio, leaving many fans to believe there is an entire unheard catalog of Mac Miller songs out there.

And if this newest track is a taste of what may be out there, we can only hope we get more of it as the years go by.
