Just a couple of days after releasing her new single, “Nightmare”, and doing her best to convince everyone that “Old Town Road” isn’t so bad after all, Halsey has continued her action-packed week by performing at an adult night club in support of sex workers.
After the video of her performance, which she posted on her personal Instagram, went viral and received an immediate response, Halsey — born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane — took to Twitter to share her side of the story.
“Getting a lot of s**t because I posted #supportsexworkers on my story last night. Just to be clear. I DO support sex workers. I support consenting humans in the field,” the “Nightmare” signer began.
“My statement obviously excludes people forced into sex work. It all comes back to autonomy and choice. I notice every day that the conversation surrounding feminism is both bigger but more nuanced than ever with social media as a platform. I try, and I hope you try, to be mindful of cultural and regional differences that complicate the conversation,” she continued.
Despite initially being the one to post the video, the entire clip of her dancing has since been deleted off of her Instagram.
Halsey — who just released her latest single “Nightmare” a couple of days prior — has been quite outspoken politically on Twitter all week, as she previously used the social media platform to voice her displeasure with the new abortion laws that were passed in Georgia and Alabama.
Either way, whether she’s using it to voice her grievances with political injustice or share clips of her late-night party habits, we can all agree that Halsey has seemed to master the art of social media.
