Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has been making the media rounds during the final season of the HBO hit series. As you would expect, a lot of the interviews centered around plotlines and what it was like to portray the wildly popular Arya Stark.

However, in a recent discussion, Williams opened up about the darker side of stardom.

Williams was discussing what it was like to have a meteoric rise to popularity on the show and admitted that it had a negative impact on her mental health.

“I still lie in bed at, like, 11 o’clock at night telling myself all the things I hate about myself,” Williams said during an appearance on the Happy Place podcast. “It’s just really terrifying that you’re ever going to slip back into it. That’s still something that I’m really working on, because I think that’s really hard. It’s really hard to feel sad and not feel completely defeated by it.”

The comments echo previous statements from fellow Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

“I would just believe it. I would say, ‘Yeah, I am spotty. I am fat. I am a bad actress,”‘ she said, via Complex. “I would just believe it. I would get [the costume department] to tighten my corset a lot. I just got very, very self-conscious.”

Williams says that she is looking forward to a “normal life” following the conclusion of the show.

The final season of Game of Thrones will come to its end next Sunday, May 19, as the battle for the Iron Throne reaches its finale. Game of Thrones season 8, episode 6 is set to run for one hour and 20 minutes.

Get your popcorn ready.
