Julianna Zobrist is an American Christian musician who is also an author and motivational speaker. In 2005, Zobrist, whose made name was Gilmore, got married to Chicago Cubs player Ben Zobrist. During the Cubs’ 2016 World Series, the first title in 108 years ending the longest world championship drought in North American professional sports history, Ben Zobrist was named the World Series MVP.

Ben Zobrist had taken a leave from the Chicago Cubs one week ago.

The couple — which split time between Nashville and Chicago — has a son and two daughters together, but their longtime relationship is now coming to an end.

According to a report from The Chicago Tribune, Julianna hired Berger Schatz attorney Karen Krehbiel to file for divorce. Krehbiel had also represented Chicago billionaire hedge fund CEO Kenneth Griffin in his divorce with Anne Dias Griffin in 2014.

Throughout her musical career, Julianna released two EPs — The Tree (January 8, 2009) and Say It Now (April 17, 2012) — and her debut studio album Shatterproof on July 1, 2016. Her two singles from Shatterproof, “The Dawn” and “Alive”, both charted on the Billboard magazine charts.

She was named a top 10 independent artist that should get signed by a major Christian music record following that breakout success.

Julianna was also front and center showcasing her golden pipes throughout her soon-to-be ex-husband’s career when she sang the national anthem when he was playing for the Kansas City Royals and when she sang “God Bless America” at Wrigley Field ahead of the Chicago Cubs’ Game 4 World Series game against the Cleveland Indians.

In 2018, Julianna wrote the book “Pull it Off” which deals with combatting negative emotions.

I remember my high school senior recital. I was ready and jonesing to sing, couldn’t wait for costume changes and dance routines… But I was equal parts dread and pre-maturely embarrassed to perform the Chopin piece that had just gotten me admitted into the School of Music in Nashville where I would be attending the following year. Playing the piano felt less like a performance opportunity and more like exposure. You know the dream we’ve all had about showing up to school naked? Yeah, that one. I sat down. My ivory fingers touched the ivory keys. Suddenly, the piece I knew by heart seemed to skip out of my mind and become fruit flies dancing chaotically around my head. I glued my eyes to the sheet music in front of me. After making it through the first movement, the woman turning pages looked at me sideways confused as to what this seventeen year old girl was doing. I had skipped the next six pages, ended the song abruptly and practically ran off stage. The audience was dumbfounded and my mother most likely was mortified…sorry mom! See, Here is the way I view The Piano. My entire childhood until this moment, it has been like a journal to me. When words did not suffice, the black and white keys would speak the language of my heart. I had 88 friends…always there to give matter and tone and resonance to what was in my head. Always making music out of the words stuck inside my throat, behind my teeth. And what seemed most magical about the piano then and now…is the way It finds harmony sonically out of what seems too complex or too different internally. Yesterday was World Piano Day. And It took me an entire day to wrap my head around the safe haven that ebony and ivory have given me through childhood, that senior year recital, and now. #worldpianoday

[seeing only when it’s convenient] We see the Newness of God in the bud of a rose. We see the Forgiveness of God in the scar of bark over barbed wire. We feel the presence of Faith in the gentle breeze that we cannot see. We see Redemption in the dandelion whose death is the only way for her seeds to be set free. We see hope in the first beam of light over a horizon. Why is it so simple, so right, so acceptable, to find God and His Story within the bud, the oak, the wind, the dandelion, the sunrise …. but yet, so many Ignore the very Face of God that has been imprinted into the young man sitting beside you on the subway and the girl you follow on social media? We step on their backs just to elevate our own perception of morality. We condemn before listening. We judge what we haven’t the courage to get close to. We polarise and divide rather than pay attention. We ostracise who does not squeeze nicely into the church agenda. We turn our backs on those that may expose any uneducated traditionalism. It is time we begin to give the grace we’ve become so spoiled to expect for ourselves. It is time to spread the Love we want so desperately to receive. Because WE are loved. You and All the children of the World.

You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting – over and over announcing your place in the family of things. -Mary Oliver

A beautiful woman came up to me, her hands shaking, and in the most direct, no BS way she could muster, told me of her severe struggle with anxiety. She confessed the courage it took to come to my event and be around everyone there. She “has read Pull It Off twice”, she told me. And then, decided to exercise her courage. One small step at a time. I was honored to witness her bravery and courageousness. When I think of a courageous person, a very noble and physically impressive looking person comes to mind…most likely does for you too. However, courage does not distinguish itself in the brain. You could be a girl in college sticking up for herself and saying “no” to the person wanting to take advantage of you. That is courage. You could be a sixty year old man running into the neighbors house to help rescue their dog from a fire. That is courage. You could be a thirty something woman, being honest about her anxiety and taking that step to show It who is boss. That is courage. We are in this together. One day at a time. One small courageous act after another. I am with you. And in your corner always. XOXOJules

I often get asked, “How did you become a writer?” My answer is always a version of, “Well, I started writing songs and poetry as a child and just never stopped. When we dream of Becoming, we run the risk of over complicating passion and making It formulaic. But there also exists the lure of over simplifying hard work and subjecting your Becoming to the fanciful “lightening in a bottle” waiting game. The greatest mainstay to Becoming, in my life thus far, has been Persistence. And Persistence is bedrock to Passion. The faster we rid ourselves of the “lightening in a bottle”, “over night success”, “I worked out once doesn’t that mean I’ll have an eight pack for life?” mentality (although I’m still hoping for that one), the better equipped our minds will be to face the road ahead. I believe this to be true for all of us Dreamers. Whether you Dream of Love, of a career, of advocacy and policy change, of personal growth, buckle up. Double knot your laces. Get your cleats in the dirt. Put your pen to the paper. Shine on, Colorkids. Clear perspectives. Strong hearts. Persistent minds. btw, you are Loved. XOXOJules

In 1508, Raphael – one of the masters of the Italian Renaissance- was commissioned by Pope Julius II to paint several rooms in the Vatican. So, Raphael chose the theme of how Classical Greece and Rome influenced Christianity in Italy through spiritual and worldly wisdom. The murals embody the classic origins of theology, law or literature, poetry or music, and philosophy. The last (and my personal favourite) of these is The School of Athens. Right in the middle of the painting, where our eyes naturally focus, are arguably the world’s chief thinkers- Plato and Aristotle. I have read almost every work written by Plato and his philosophy of existing within the tension of humanity and divinity is one that has permeated my heart and changed the lenses through which I see the world. I believe every person has been created by God and bears the image of God within them…much like how Raphael painted himself directly into the painting. You and I reflect a different image, personality and expression of God. This is why we are a collaboration, not a competition. This is why I celebrate and champion staying as true and sincere to your own heart, the fraction of God that He has given you to display, as you possibly can. This is why I implore us to live in Unity, not uniformity. Because, just like Plato is pointing up to the sky in the School of Athens, when we live honestly, our lives become walking portraits, pointed to the sky. I love you. XOXOJules (One more session before he is completed, but can we just take a moment and admire the true artist that is @angel.antonio.tattoos )
