Did the final season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones feature another major gaffe? It was just a week ago that eagle-eyed viewers noticed the now infamous Starbucks cup during Episode 4, and just one week later for Episode 5, “The Bells,” fans seemed to notice another questionable detail.
In the final scene of the episode, while Cersei and Jaime Lannister were embracing, a still photo showed actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who portrays Jaime, sporting a regular right hand instead of the gold hand he has had since it was chopped off in season 3.
The magically respawned hand can be seen on Cersei’s lower back.
Check out the photo below:
“Jaime’s hand magically healed in Episode 5,” another fan complained on Twitter. “As if we needed any more proof D&D simply stopped caring about GoT a log [sic] time ago.”
This comes at a time where fans of the show are criticizing directors and showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff for getting lazy with the plot lines and character arcs. So could they really have missed the fact that Jaime’s hand magically returned? If they did, it would explain the decision to be “very drunk and very far from the internet” following the series finale.
“I plan to be very drunk and very far from the internet,” Benioff had previously said about the show’s conclusion and social media reaction during an interview with Entertainment Weekly prior to the season.
Game of Thrones representatives and HBO have yet to officially comment at this time.
The final season of the HBO hit series will come to its end next Sunday, May 19, as the battle for the Iron Throne reaches its finale.
