The penultimate episode of Game of Thrones always brings chaos. And season 8, episode 5 on Sunday, May 12, lived up to the history of the show. After losing beloved characters like Melisandre, the Night King, Lyanna Mormont throughout the final season, the death count continued to skyrocket.
Who died in the most recent episode of Game of Thrones?

After Varys writes a letter to share Jon’s lineage and proclaim him the true heir to the Iron Throne, Tyrion went running to Dany. From there, Dany felt betrayed and confronted Varys with the help of Dragon. That was just the beginning of Dany going full Mad Queen.
Dany flights into King’s Landing but not before Euron’s fleet is engulfed in flames. King’s Landing is then rocked by a major explosion of the gates as Drogon, the Dothraki and Unsulleed storm the landing. Many soldiers die during the battle as the flames continue to spread. Grey Worm was responsible for a number of deaths as he strolled through the battle.
We also witnessed the Cleganebowl. After an epic back and forth, The Hound tackles Mountain off of a tower and into the flames burning below joining the thousands of others who died during the episode. The Mountain was also responsible for the death of Qyburn, while Jamie appeared to land a fatal stab on Euron.
At the end of the episode, the walls of King’s Landing collapsed and appeared to take the lives of Jamie and Cersei together. Prior to their deaths, Cersei revealed that she was pregnant as everything came crashing down.
The final season of the HBO hit series will come to its end next Sunday, May 19, as the battle for the Iron Throne reaches its finale.
