Of all the tricks of the trade that Game of Thrones has employed throughout the years, making gorgeous English actress Hannah Murray look somewhat unattractive as the wildling Gilly may be one of their greatest feats.
Murray, who was born in Bristol, England, on July 1, 1989, began acting over a decade ago when she was cast as Cassie Ainsworth in the teen drama Skins (which was since remade in the United States).
After her career kicked off with her star turn in Skins, Murray went on to make various appearances in TV and movies such as Womb, Chatroom, In Bruges, Agatha Christie’s Marple, and Above Suspicion: the Red Dahlia.
And while we’re sure that Murray is utterly fantastic in those roles, the reason we’ve heard of her is that she has been portraying the wildling Gilly in HBO’s epic Emmy Award-winning drama Game of Thrones since 2012.
Game of Thrones, which first premiered on HBO on April 17, 2011, has since become one of the most iconic shows in the history of television.
Set in the fictional world of Westeros, Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
While her plans after Game of Thrones are unclear, we have a feeling that Murray will have no trouble finding work thanks to her Thrones fame.
Perhaps staying true to her Wilding character off the screen, Murray doesn’t have her own personal Instagram account, so we’ve got nowhere to point you if you want to follow her.
