In an episode full of celebration following the victory over the Night King and the Army of the Dead in “The Long Night”, episode four of Game of Thrones‘ final season saw a long-awaited moment go down between two of the show’s most beloved characters.

After years of constant will they/won’t they, Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister — two of the most beloved characters on Game of Thrones — finally expressed their feelings for each other and slept together not once, but *twice* during the final season’s fourth episode.

While many fans had long believed that Brienne and Jaime would never physically express their love for each other, the combination of the joy of being alive following the Great War, the ale flowing through their system, and their genuine love for each other finally overcame them.

And similar to when Gendry finally gave Arya *the spear she asked for* back in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” (episode 2), Twitter and social media went absolutely WILD when Jaime and Brienne finally hooked-up.

However, while the two finally laying together was both a sweet moment, the love didn’t last long, as Jaime eventually changed his mind and opted to ride south to King’s Landing to try and protect Cersei, despite the heartbreak it clearly causes Brienne.

The eighth and final season of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning fantasy drama ‘Game of Thrones’ began on Sunday, April 14, and will conclude on Sunday, May 19.
