“Stunning face, but manly body.” “My goodness this isn’t a fitness competition.” “Miss OK is a dude.” “She needs to lay off the weights and eat her salads.” “How did she win?” “…body is gross.” “So she won because Miss USA must be going for the “REAL WOMAN” look now…oh great!” “Not the Universe look at all.” “They just let anyone in nowadays. Exactly why pageants are going down the drain.” —————— These are just a few of the messages stated when my pictures are posted. The reason behind posting this is not because I’m hurt. No. I’m proud of this body! I’m the daughter of two amazing Olympic bound track athletes. I’ve seen my body perform in ways I’ve never seen before because of the help of coaches, my mental growth, and the abilities God has given me. Thank goodness I’m confident in myself and care more about the qualities in my character than the opinions of strangers, right? I’ve come a long way though. I used to hate my body, my muscles, the strength that I carried. It took me years to love the body that God gave me. However, women across the board receive comments from people who choose to body shame. But ladies, there is no such thing as the perfect body. EveryBODY is beautiful. Whether you’re muscular, curvy, or naturally thin. What matters at the end of the day is YOU being happy with yourself. YOU truly loving every single little bit, from the hair in your head to the nail polish on your toesies. 💁🏽‍♀️💅🏽 ————- During this month of showcasing the strength of women, I thought it was the time to share this being that this is a women’s empowerment organization. ☺ Be confident in who YOU are. Do not let the opinions of others sway you in the direction of being someone you are not, or worse, hurting yourself. Do not compare yourself to what you see online. Instead, every single day, look in the mirror and say, “I am beautiful the way that I am.” ———————— This message has been on my heart for awhile. To whoever needed this, I hoped this has helped you. There is absolutely no reason to be apologetic for who you are. You are not alone in this journey, and remember there is only one of YOU and that you is perfect the way that it is. #InternationalWomensDay
