MaKenzie Divina will be representing Miss South Carolina USA at the upcoming Miss USA pageant. MaKenzie took the crown from 2018 winner Tori Sizemore, who was a former Miss South Carolina Teen USA and first runner up to Miss Teen USA 2013.
She is currently studying at Clemson University where she is pursuing a degree in nursing with hopes of becoming a trauma nurse at a level one hospital.
According to her official bio, MaKenzie “has overcome anxiety and depression, and has successfully turned her negative experience into a positive by starting her own organization, Empowering Youth Every Second, which advocates for inclusion.”
Miss USA takes place Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. It will be the 68th Miss USA pageant, and the second pageant to be held concurrently with the Miss Teen USA competition. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place on a yet-to-be-determined date in South Korea. The reigning Miss Universe is Catriona Gray, who represented the Philippines, while Miss USA going to Nebraska’s Sarah Rose Summers.
