Alexandra Shipp, born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 16, 1991, is an American actress who is best known for portraying Storm (real name Ororo Munroe) in the modern X-Men movies, such as X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Born in Phoenix, Shipp attended Squaw Peak Elementary School and St. Mary’s Catholic High School before moving to Los Angeles, California, when she was just 17-years-old to begin pursuing a professional acting career.
Shipp’s first professional acting role came when she appeared as Valentina in the 2009 children’s comedy Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Her career has been in perpetual upwards trajectory since, as she has gone on to appear in widely-seen films such as Straight Outta Compton, X-Men: Apocalypse, Love, Simon, Deadpool 2, and Dark Phoenix.
In addition to those well-recognized projects, Shipp has appeared in other films such as Tragedy Girls, Spinning Man, Dude, and A Dog’s Way Home.
Shipp has also made various television appearances on shows such as Switched at Birth, Victorious, House of Anubis, Awkward, Ray Donovan, and Days of Our Lives.
In the year 2019, Shipp will star in two of her biggest films yet when she stars as Storm / Ororo Munroe in Dark Phoenix and as the female lead in the Samuel L. Jackson-starring remake of Shaft.
At the time of this writing, Shipp’s role in Shaft is unknown.
