Something I’ve always said about Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is that he’s the reason Bill Belichick looks like such a jerk.
If Pop didn’t exist, Belichick would likely be able to get away with his Lord Master Grump shtick.
However, because Pop exists, he is proof that it’s possible to be both generational brilliant and a nice guy.
Now, that’s not to say Pop is all sunshine and rainbows, but that is to say that his tone of snark and Belichick’s are significantly different.
Case in point, this interview Pop gave following the Spurs Game 6 victory of the Denver Nuggets to keep their season alive.
It’s quintessential Pop in every sense of the word and easily one of the best interviews he’s given in some time.
Similar to watching his coach, observing Pop at the mic is like watching a comedic master at work, as his sense of timing, tone, and inflection are impeccable.
Despite being as undermanned as they’ve been in years, the San Antonio Spurs once again find themselves on the cusp of a Western Conference semifinal.
Game 7 of the Western Conference quarterfinals between the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs will tip off at 10 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 27.
