Pablo Ramirez, 26-years-old, has been identified as the San Fransisco skateboarded that was killed on Tuesday, April 23, after he was hit by a dump truck in the South of Market area of the city.

According to reports, Ramirez, 26, was hit and killed by a dump truck as he was skateboarding on Seventh Street in the South of Market neighborhood of San Fransisco.

Specifically, the San Fransisco Police Department said that crash happened around 12:16 p.m. local time near 7th and Howard Street.

San Francisco Police Department Public Information Officer Robert Rueca said in a statement to reporters that while first responders arrived to find Ramirez suffering from life-threatening injuries, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Additionally, the SFPD said witnesses said Ramirez was “hanging onto the back of a moving vehicle and being towed just moments before he was killed”, according to the San Fransisco Chronicle.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation as police talk to more witnesses and comb through security footage in the area.

In a statement on social media, iconic skateboarding magazine Thrasher called Ramirez “beautiful spirit” who was full of “love and unyielding energy.”

“Pablo Ramirez was a beautiful spirit, overflowing with love and unyielding energy. It’s impossible to articulate the passion he brought to every waking moment, every session with the homies,” Thrasher’s statement begins. “A burning fire in our skateboarding community has dimmed. This is heartbreaking,” the statement concludes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pablo Ramirez’s friends, family, and various loved ones during this extremely difficult time.
