Suranne Jones, born on August 27, 1978 in Chadderton, England, is a British actress and producer who is perhaps best known for her appearances in the TV series Scott & Bailey, Doctor Foster, and Gentleman Jack.
Born in Chadderton outside of Manchester, Jones began acting when she was just 16-years-old and attended the Cardinal Langley Roman Catholic High School in Middleton, England.
Jones’ first professional acting appearance came in a 1997 episode of the British soap opera Coronation Street.
During the course of her career, Jones has primarily been a television actress, appearing in series such as Harley Street, Unforgiven, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Five Days, Single Father, Doctor Who, A Touch of Cloth, The Secret of Crickley Hall, The Crimson Field, Save Me, and Vanity Fair.
Jones is also a decorated stage actress in England, appearing in productions such as A Few Good Men, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Terms of Endearment, Blithe Spirit, Top Girls, Beautiful Thing, Orlando, and Frozen.
Jones got the biggest break of her career to date in 2019 when she began starring as the protagonist in the HBO and BBC series Gentleman Jack.
Gentleman Jack, a historical drama based on the collective diaries of Anne Lister, premiered on HBO on Monday, Apri 22, 2019.
